This is the second release in “The Casks of Lindores” series, which highlights the three main cask types used by the Lindores Abbey: bourbon, sherry butts, and STR (shaved, toasted, and re-charred) wine barriques. These three casks form the maturation profile for their signature MCDXCIV (1494) single malt. This specific edition, however, was matured exclusively in STR casks sourced from Spain and Portugal.
Nose: Very mellow fruity plum jam, caramelized muscovado sugar, Scottish butter tablet notes and
Palate: Sweet plums and dates, ripe apricots with baking spices and roasted chestnuts. Notes of apple and cinnamon pie at the back with a very smooth texture and a pleasant finish cinnamon touches
Finish: Medium to long with spices, honey and caramel notes

As the officially recognised site of the first recorded distillation of Scotch Whisky in 1494, when Brother John Cor, a Lindores monk, was commissioned by King James IV in 1494 to turn 8 bolls of malt into Aqua Vitae, Lindores is again taking its place in history with its, now commercially available, Single Malt Scotch Whisky.
